Relationships - Why Women Don't Date Nice Guys
Do nice guys really finish last? That's what a lot of men seem to think. If women really wanted nice men, they wouldn't keep dating jerks and getting themselves in abusive relationships. So what's the truth: Do women only say they want nice men? Do women prefer bad boys?
The answer is actually somewhere between these two extremes. Women who have self-esteem don't want to date jerks. At the same time, they want MEN, not spineless little boys.
So, what's a nice guy? If you think of a nice guy in terms of someone who is needy, clingy, emotional, and fawning, then we're talking about someone who has more in common with a lost puppy. The most he can hope for where women are concerned is pity or a maternal sort of affection. A woman might want to pat the nice guy on the head and think of him as a brother, but she usually doesn't want to date him.
One of the things that bad boys have going for them is an excess of confidence. Cockiness, if you will. The jerk doesn't need any particular woman in order to be happy, which makes him even more seductive. There's something attractive about a person who isn't easily won. The jerk is practically oozing testosterone, which is a magnet for female attention.
However, a woman with any kind of self-worth isn't going to settle for a jerk who mistreats her. Nor will she settle for a man who will let anyone walk all over him. What she wants is a gentleman who is well-mannered, responsible, strong, and has a mind of his own. The right sort of man is like the ideal handshake: Firm, not crushing or limp.
Women do want guys who are nice, but being nice just isn't enough. They also want a man, and all that that implies.
